Jay Feder Jewelers – Boca Raton

I recently had the privilege to visit the third and newest location of the Jay Feder Jewelers empire in Boca Raton!  Anyone that knows me, knows that I love a little ‘frosting’, whether it be my low key finds from the mall or my elegant gems that I’ve been given for special occasions!  So naturally, I had a complete blast trying on the most exotic, trendy, and rare gems that this unique and welcoming family business holds.

Right when I walked into their 4,200 square food showroom in Boca, I was immediately greeted by their down-to-earth but professional and poised staff.  All around me, was a setting that I could only describe as “sophistication meets warmth and relaxation”.  The showroom contains the work of over 20 unique worldwide jewelry designers, and what I especially liked, is that these pieces are at all different price points.  What appeals to me, when I shop, are stores that I can go to for more affordable and trendy looks, as well as more meaningful and staple pieces-  and Jay Feder has both.  If you’re looking for a trendy, high quality, and unique piece for your daughter’s 18th birthday, or a one of a kind high end engagement ring or anniversary piece for your significant other, this place has it all!

Not only is the quality and variety of their pieces exceptional, but the setting itself is warm, inviting, and simply a place where you just want to hang with your girls!  What I love about the setting, is that it exemplifies exactly what Marc and his wife, Devorah, wanted to accomplish…it’s the thought that “when you’re here, you’re family.”   I grew up with lots of entrepreneurs in my family, and because of that, I have always admired and supported family owned businesses.  Marc and Devorah took over this 40 year family owned business less than a decade ago, and you can really tell that they have perfectly molded being “trendy” and “fun” with being family oriented and traditional.  A large part of their showroom is dedicated to a gorgeous lounge area where you can sip champagne and hang out with your girlfriends, all while looking at the immaculate 500 gallon saltwater fish tank!  It was so much fun trying on different pieces, learning about the background of the designer (who, by the way, Devorah has a friendly relationship with each and every one of them!), and hanging out in the classy lounge with some temporary frosting on :).

Marc and Devorah provide a lot of services other than selling you jewelry (the most gorgeous jewelry, I should add!); they host private engagement parties, conduct rare gem searches, create customized jewelry, and…one of my favorite things they do, customized jewelry stylings.  Devorah told me a story of how she accompanied a bridal party the day they were prepping for the wedding, and she brought some gorgeous pieces and styled each bridesmaid, mother of the bride, and the bride the day of the wedding.  Talk about dream wedding!

Jay Feder Jewelers is a definite must-go if you, your friends, your spouse, ANYONE, is interested in jewelry and some good fun!  If you don’t live in Boca, you’re still in luck- they have two other locations in Denver and New York City!

Jay Feder Jewelers is open every day of the week except Saturday, and is located at 6859 SW 18th St, Boca Raton, FL 33433.

Thank you for reading! Let me know your favorite jewelry pieces, I’d love to hear about your favorite item and what it means to you! 🙂

Oliv Pit – Boca Raton

I have always always loved Greek food, but I didn’t realize that I could actually taste the difference between Greek food, and AUTHENTICALLY AMAZING Greek food, until I paid a visit to the Oliv Pit in Boca.  Right when you step into this beautiful, rustic, and charming restaurant, you are immediately greeted by the friendly and attentive wait staff, and the aroma of fresh food and spices fills the air.

Oliv Pit is great to go for lunch with a friend, or to spend a comfortable yet refined date night.  The food is traditional Athens fare with a modern twist, and what I loved so much about it is that it all tasted light and non-oily.  The menu items are affordable, and there is something here for everyone, whether you love meat or are a vegetarian.  Check out some of the yummy items I tried…

This. Dip. Trio. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!  First of all, the pita is perfectly soft and crunchy- now that’s hard to achieve in and of itself.  But, the tzatziki, eggplant, and spicy feta spread was out of this world! Far left is the spicy feta spread, and that’s what everyone was talking about when we left! SO GOOD.

What you see above this is basically the best fried food that is NOT found at a county fair- zucchini croquettes.  It’s like biting down on a crunchy, fluffy, vegetable…absolutely delicious!

Whenever I get a Greek salad served to me like this, I always know it’s authentic- am I right?

One of my favorite things about this place, is that it’s easy to get your own individual meals, but it’s always very fun and easy to eat family style here.  This is their seafood platter, all warmed, that comes with calamari, salmon, prawns, and octopus.

Similarly to the seafood platter, they also serve an OUT OF THIS WORLD meat platter.  The way Greeks make their lamb is my soft spot (hello gyros…which they have here by the way), and the shaved lamb was my favorite, although they do have some pretty amazing beefteki (kind of like meatballs but better) and a variety of skewers.  Another family style dish that serves 4 people! So fun to share!

Their feta fries were crunchy, the feta was fresh, and they are topped with delicious and fresh herbs!

My favorite dessert was their walnut cake.  I could eat this every single day!

You MUST go try the Oliv Pit in Boca- if you do not live in the Boca Raton area, this restaurant, I am telling you, is worth the drive.  If you are Greek, it’ll make you nostalgic and proud 🙂

Henry’s – Delray Beach

Chase and I love trying new restaurants, and we recently visited a new one for us, but a staple in Delray Beach, to try out their new menu!  Henry’s in Delray Beach has such a ginormous variety of foods, all of which I would consider traditional American comfort foods.  They have fresh and locally sourced meats, seafood, and really amazing in-season vegetables.  They serve Happy Hour from 11:30AM-2:30PM, as well as 4:30-6:00PM.

Before I tell you about the delicious food, I have to first tell you how absolutely flawless their service is.  I wouldn’t consider myself high maintenance to any degree (maybe Chase would beg to differ), but I do value good service (I attribute that to the Midwest in me!).  Both Chase and I noticed that from the second we opened the door, to the goodbye on our way out, the hostesses, bartenders, waitresses, basically everyone, were all polite, chipper, knowledgeable, and most importantly, attentive.  That is a 10/10 from me :).

Also, when you do go see this for yourself, make sure to mention Beaches and Baubles, and receive a complimentary appetizer (max $14 value) or two glasses of wine with the purchase of two entrees (as long as it’s not used with another coupon or on a holiday)!

We were able to sample a couple of delicious appetizers, main dishes, and a fabulous dessert!

The Prince Edward Island Mussels were to die for- they were cooked to perfection, and had jalapeno, thai basil, and edamame in them…this was definitely one of Chase’s favorite mussel appetizer he’s had!

The Wasabi Crusted Yellow Tuna was my favorite appetizer- the tuna was soft and delicious, and the wasabi crust was crunchy and added such a fun taste to the dish!

What I loved about their entrees is that they are so large, they’re big enough to take home and eat the next day for lunch.  I got the Pan Roasted Branzino, and it’s the best fish entree I have had in years.  It was cooked under a lemon caper vinaigrette, and came with plenty of perfectly cooked and tasty vegetables!

Chase had this amazing Chicken Coq au Vin, and both of us have never had tastier bone-in-half chicken!  It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and had the most delicious seasoning- I wish I could cook my chicken this good at home!

This, my friends, is their Frozen Turtle Cake- which, basically tastes like you are eating a piece of heaven 🙂  We wanted to take the entire cake home, but unfortunately, we finished this in under three minutes!

We loved our dinner here, it was comfortable, welcoming, delicious, and I felt like staying here for hours just taking in the food and ambiance.  Make sure you go check out their new menu if you have already been, and if you haven’t, make yourself over to Henry’s in Delray Beach and try it for yourself!
